I'm sick and tired of staying with stuff I know and I'd love to get into anthro art as well. But I'll get into that later. Thing is, I'm /scared/ and nervous to do new poses, don't ask why, because I have no idea myself. Photos can help, but somtimes it just doesn't help at all and I give up. -headdesk- Then theres the problem where I just can't leave a drawing alone, it'll be half finished and then I'll go back and finish it. BAH. Same thing when trying to draw from real life. -pokes stiff pose thingy-do- Anthros.. well.. most problems I have would be with the clothing, face, hands and the hair. Y'know like...hair on our heads. It looks flat, and weird. Like..emo-kid's hair or somthing. XDD I also freeze up alot, I'll go to draw somthing but my hand refuses to touch the paper. o.0; Happens every time I try to draw somthing different. God I'm such a weirdo. Halp plz. D; |

Halp plz. D; Try playing with perspective and lighting. That always makes things interesting. (yes Akira did that... today... But hey, I'm insane, can ya' blame me?) WEEEEEEEE! *bouncesofwalls* 8DDDDDD | Phear Me! |

I think you're probably something of a perfectionist, and are afraid to draw something that looks bad or awkward, so you stick to the same formula that you know works. Only now, it's become stifling, and you need to grow. In your gallery, I see a lot of side views. Resolve to stay away from side views for a while. Playing with perspective is also a lot of fun, and there are running and jumping poses where the body is twisting in midair. Don't be afraid to draw from the rear, either. As for anthros, that isn't really my style, so I can't advise. (I do some manga-ish fantasy creatures, but it's not quite the same.) But there are loads of anthro artists on this site, so you can browse, and whenever you see something you like, make mental notes about why you like it. And lastly, the first time you try anything new, it's likely that it won't be that good yet. Don't worry about it, just keep going. If you practice in Sketcher, you may able to get some concrit, so don't worry about your pride or looking good in front of others, just focus on exploring new things and you'll get there. |

I can't give much more advice than what's already been given, but I can add to 'em. These two sites help me a LOT when I want to practice perspective. I'm still not that good, but it helps. They're a bit... bizarre looking though. xD;
Posemaniac 30-second practice. Shows you a pose and gives you a short amount of time to do a basic sketch of the pose. You can change it from 15 seconds to 90, but it defaults at 30.

Posemaniac Random Pose Viewer. Same as above, only you have an infinite amount of time on the pose. You can click next and previous to look for other poses if you don't like the one it gives you initially.
