Okay. Well. It came to my attention tonight about something that could very much change peoples minds on a carrer. I got a message on yahoo, telling me there's an article that I needed to read. A "must read" type article for all artists. Well I'm glad I managed to click the link and read it, because I sometimes don't like reading long articles late at night. This, however, grabbed my attention when she told me it was dealing with artists. "This includes every sketch, painting, photo, sculpture, drawing, video, song and every other type of creative endeavor. All of it is at risk!" (quote from the article) http://mag.awn.com/?ltype=Pageone&article_no=3605 Basically, this article is about copyrighting, and how your own work could be LEGALLY stolen by anyone, and you can't really do much about it unless you pay for it. Read the article to make sense out of what I just said.

Ok that is so wrong I'm just profoundly angered by what could happen if that bill passes I just hope to God it doesn't because I definitely don't want my art or anyone else's work to be legally stolen. Who the hell would even propose such a bill? Technically right now and this has to do with songs if you want to remake a song you have to wait until 50 years after the artist is dead or get their consent to remake their song which means also paying them a small fee. I just hate how f****d up this world is right now in terms of art theft.

The bill won't pass. It's bullshit and too strenuous on the economy. The United States would lose too much money on artists who would invest in other countries and get their copyright rights there. I honestly don't think that this is going to go anywhere.

That is just stupid, I don't want some idiot stealing my art. Whoever thought of that is a VERY stupid person. D8< That's just stupid, why would someone make copyrighting legal? PSH, I say. D8<<<

I found it from celesses journal, someone had given her the link. it doesn?t concern us Europeans so much as in the US, but they "are" trying to get us europeans into that law too...or...they have tried, but got a strong NO from our part. As rip says...This will NOT ever happen.

Grethe is right. It's not just a United States law. It's very internationally involved. And if the US DOES pass it without consent from international countries, then it would go against international law that is Berne's Convention.
