I can't believe how awsome others' art is on this site, it's given me lots of inspiration. But when I look at my art, I hate it. My traditional art's waaaay better than my compuer art, but I can't use my scanner so I'm stuck with awful pixels. I wish my uncle would come back from his vacation so he can fix my tablet, then I could actualy draw better. :/ The thing that triggered all this is because I'd love to do an art trade or something with someone, but I'm afraid to because my art's bad. I'm not even sure why I'm posting this, I just really need to vent I guess. | Phear Me! |

Change these thoughts around and think...hey, i can do what 95% of the nation cant! most people cant draw -atall- I've seen your art, and theres nothing wrong with it!
The only crit i would have about your art is try not to stick to wolves 100% of the time. Make yourself draw all sorts of things.
The fun with art is noone is ever perfect. Artists are always improving and having tantrums over their art.
If this helps...
here is how i drew in 2003 > >http://us.a2.yahoofs.com/groups/g_5000555/a494/__sr_/5ed8.jpg?grADxvHBFBS_7RPh
here is how i draw now. >

Can you see how much i have improved in that time? simply for pratice!
I think you should do lots of art trades. Its good fun and alot of practice ^^
also if you want a better art program theres a free one alot like photoshop called The Gimp, its really good

Personally, if I stuck to only using characters I have, my art would get really redundant. That's half the reason I picked up doing Commissions on Gaia. For me, the best way to improve is to draw comics. If you focus on the how and why of every posture and expression, you're bound to improve faster. |

You must practice, get better, and be amazed at your potential. Srsly. | -Poke- |

Kyia your art is awesome, you can't compare yourself to everyone else because you are on a different level! I bet in a few years you'll be right where you want to and we'll be begging for art from ya.

Intimidation can make you work harder. Also, having people around you who you think are «better» may think the opposite. People exceed at different levels. Don't worry! Plus the people around you drawing in sketcher help you with your art as well. Anyway, keep trying. | -Poke- |

They either give up or work hard. I believe in you, don't be the former. Another thing, Don't compare your art to other people, especially those better than you are. In the end they aren't better than you, you're just not meeting your own standards. |

When I look back at my art from years and years ago, It really is rubbish. xD; But nowdays, only a year or two after, I'm loving my art. People have said the same thing as Majalo and Miko said, and that always brings me to realize that one day It will be better. :U Plus, also kinda like whats been said, Looking at other people's art, and saying their better isn't good. D: Because everyone draws differently. Whether with different styles, or methods. Some grow faster then others. :3 XD Ack, I'm bad at this.... Sorry. =x | Check out my Deviant art! http://chocolatexandxspice.deviantart.com/ ^^ Thank yew! |

It sometimes bothers me more because some of the artists I admire are younger than me (I'm in my twenties, many people here are in their teens), and I feel like if they're that good already, I'll never get anywhere. But when I look at the artists I want to draw like, I think, «They didn't get that way by throwing tantrums and giving up.» I know what it is that I want, and I know the only way to get it is to put my nose back to the grindstone and try harder, for as many years as it takes. I figure, one of these days I'm going to be fifty, and it's up to me now if that fifty-year-old me is going to be a fabulous artist or just another wannabe. Regarding drawing wolves exclusively, I'm not going to tell you what you should have as your subject matter, but when I was younger I drew nothing but horses. I did like horses, but the reason I wouldn't draw people is because I knew I was terrible at it. With horses I could at least pull off something half-decent, and any flaws weren't quite as painful to look at, because the human brain knows human anatomy better, and is more likely to notice a misproportioned human face than it is a misproportioned horse face. Anyway, when you look at other people's art and think it's better than yours, instead of just indulging in self-pity, try to figure out what it is you like about it, so you can do that too. The only time you should be judging something you drew is against something else you drew, to see how your progress is coming. As for the tablet, it sucks not having the right tools. Scanners are a lot cheaper than tablets--I got two for free just going through people's garbage! What's wrong with yours? If it can't be fixed, you can probably get another very affordably. (I mean like affordable.) A tablet is trickier, if it turns out you need a new one you can either get a job or drop hints for your birthday, depending on your age. Btw, what's wrong with the tablet? |
