If you've seen empty brackets next to some user names, this is because we ran a few filters on the user table. When we first introduced genders to user profiles, we made the blunder of defaulting everyone to 'male'. When front page statistics was needed, this meant that we had a lot of inactive 'males' skewing the numbers, so we ran a filter that blanked the gender of all users who've been inactive for a month or more. We also ran a few filters to set the sex for certain names, that ended in 'man', 'boy', 'girl', etc. Those of you that lack a sex are tagged as hermaphrodites. Thank you!
