So I was curious about how many people are using the different skins. Decided to run a query against the database to find out. Here are the results: [img]http://thj.no/agskinstats.png[/img] Do y'all think we should still keep the skin selection feature? It's not exactly being used much.

I went through all the skins, but I liked the normal blue one best.

I like the idea you can change the skins, but I prefer the old skin the most. :c Even though it's not being used much, that doesn't mean we can't keep it right? Is it taking up space or something?

I think ArtGrounds should keep the skins selection of the site available for use. It's nice to have variety and the ability to pick and choose a couple of interesting options. I also think that this separates us from websites like deviantART. Not everyone is going to like the default skin provided. I, personally, like Magical Rainbow. The community, I think, is one of the most important parts of any art site. That being said, you can use the skins to stimulate the community instead of letting it stagnate. Suggestion: open up a contest for the top three skins created by the userbase to be featured as skins on the site and offer prizes. If you're considering opening up memberships, you can offer a 1 month free membership to the winners, or something along those lines. Or something silly and fun like that. I'm sure there are plenty of other advantages to having skins. I'll post and list them as I think of more.

omg yes please ..I love the magical rainbow because of the white and fresh colors...*doesn't like the color blue much* atleast keep the magical (and the old) one up if you decide to put them down.. n3n; and did you run this query over the full user base? seeing alot of people have left AG/are not active-- meaning they never got the change to change their skins ;3

The query was run against all the users who were active between 2008-06-25 and 2008-07-25. Part of the reason for asking is the rewriting work I'm doing on the site. The option of skins adds some extra work.

If you do remove site supplied skins, might I suggest that the site use a less table heavy coding. And class use with Stylish and other means in mind. If a user so wanted they could change visual aspects as needed.

Personally, i prefer the old skin and the magic rainbow, because im not too keen on the blue. but thats just my opinion, i think you should keep the skin options because there may be more people who have the default layout. but still the others who use the other skins should have a say so aswell.

Holy crap I didn't even notice we had different skins XD I knew we did a while back but I didn't know we still had that option. But yeah, I like Normal and Magical Rainbow, cause the others are a little hard on the eyes for me. I still think we should keep the option though. Everyone likes personal customization...it makes you feel special X3

I like the old skin-- it's simple and clean, and easy on the eyes. But I like the normal one, too. :D Maybe we need some new ones. *shruggie*
